The Automatic Choice

Garador Mk4 & type 'F' vertically tracked steel framed canopy doors
can re-hung on new horizontally tracked support gear to enable
safe & reliable remote controlled operation

(These Garador canopy doors have the springs located inside the steel door frame)

Out with the old, in with the new !    The following pictures show various stages of our conversion

before - on original canopy mechanism
which is not suited to reliable automation
after - on new fully retracting slide-away mechanism
The original Garador Mk4c vertically tracked mechanism, comprising of the support arms,
roller plates, springs and the vertical box sections on the door etc. are removed & discarded

Garador steel framed canopy door gear - type 'F' & 'Mk4'

Once the door is stripped of the original vertically tracked gear it is
re-installed on new Arcadian AP100 horizontally tracked support gear

New bottom corner bracing plates are fitted for strength

New top rollers & weather-strips are fitted

(the springs are housed inside the frame uprights)

Note: The new Arcadian AP100 door gear is designed to be installed onto a timber frame so we recommend that the steel door frame is replaced with a new 69mm x 69mm timber frame.  Alternatively it is possible to retain the steel frame but it will be necessary to remove the springs, clean out the grease from inside the frame box-sections and glue two lengths of 40mm x 40mm timber inside the uprights using 'Gripfill' mastic or similar, (as illustrated right) these timbers will provide a fixing for the replacement AP100 door support gear and track fixing brackets. (these timbers should be clamped with screws to prevent movement within the steel frame while the mastic hardens)  The new top corner roller plates must be fitted so that the rollers are at the lowest position and a small portion of the new horizontal track mounting brackets may need to be cut away to clear a steel bracket at the top corner of the steel frame and all the fixing screws will need to be substituted with shorter screws.

A completed conversion with a Seip electric operator fitted

Please Note: After conversion to horizontally tracked operation the door will extend back into the garage approximately 40cm to 50cm more than it did with the original vertically tracked canopy mechanism so please check your garage for obstructions such as an RSJ or gas meter etc. before undertaking this conversion.

The design of the AP100 lifting gear provides maximum drive-through width at door mirror height

Soft rubber weather-strips down the timber door jambs keep out draughts whilst eliminating any risk of damage to your car

Once converted, your existing canopy door will
glide effortlessly back into the garage on horizontal tracks making it suitable for electric operation.

Read what our D.I.Y. customers say !

I purchased two Arcadian AP100 door gear kits to convert a pair of Garador canopy doors.  It's good quality gear and you don't need a degree in rocket science to fit it. Then I ordered two Seip TM60 remote controlled electric operators.  Again, excellent equipment which was straight forward to fit and is wonderfully effective. I encountered a couple of minor problems along the way (with my particular installation, not with the equipment) and a phone call to Nick at Amourelle had it all sorted in seconds. Amourelle's prompt delivery and customer service are second to none. It is refreshing to find a company with such 'old fashioned' customer value! - Jeff Vernon; Doncaster, S. Yorks.   I ordered a Seip electric door opener and an Arcadian door gear conversion kit for my canopy type garage door late on Thursday evening, the goods were delivered next day 11.30!!  I received plenty of help and advice. And there can’t be many businesses that say ”If you are doing the work over the weekend and need help, then just give me a call on my mobile”   All in all a great service.
I. Saunders, Aldershot, Hants.
