The Seip model 'TM' & 'TS' series' operators incorporate a microcomputer controlled safety stop system which will automatically learn and memorize the precise operating characteristics of your door and stop the motor immediately the door hits an obstruction by detecting a change in the effort required to move the door and thus provide the highest possible level of safety for your family & pets.

During the initial commissioning process the Seip operator will automatically learn the force required to operate the door by taking and storing 80 separate force measurements into its memory. (40 in each direction)  During normal operation these stored measurements are compared the the force needed to move the door and it this exceeds the stored measurements by more than 10% the safety stop system will react immediately to prevent damage or injury.

The operating force will be kept at optimum levels throughout years of use by means of Seip's unique automatic force re-adjustment system whereby, during each run of the door the Seip operator will compare the used force at each of the 80 measurement points with the force stored in its memory. After an opening or closing cycle is completed without any interference, and small changes in force values will be automatically readjusted. The emphasis lies in a disturbance free opening and closing cycle. This means that if the operator hits an obstacle or reverses by means of an external safety device (e.g. an infra-red break beam detector) then no readjustment would take place. The force readjustment is made in small steps of 0.3kg, as only slight changes in the garage door's performance are measured. Usually these changes are caused by the ageing of the door or seasonal influences.

Automatic readjustment is done in both directions, the forces can independently be reduced or increased for each measurement point. For example, the slowly decreasing tension of the door springs will lead to a slightly decreased closing force, whilst the opening force will slowly increase. Through this unique function the optimum force can be applied throughout years' of use.

The pressure sensitivity adjustment of most garage door operators has to be set manually so as to provide enough force to overcome mechanical resistance at the door's stiffest point, if however the door becomes obstructed at a other positions during the door's travel an excessive force could be exerted on the obstruction.
